Saint Paul, MN -- This afternoon State Auditor Blaha released the following statement in response to the guilty verdicts in the trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020.

“Today's guilty verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin is a relief but, more important than that, it provides fuel to make lasting change for our black, brown, and indigenous neighbors.

“Attorney General Keith Ellison was right when he said ‘the journey to transformation and justice is now in our hands.’ The journey to transformation and justice in Minnesota is clear: pass meaningful police reform legislation.

“George Floyd's life mattered. The State of Minnesota and our entire country have a long road ahead in our commitment to racial justice, police reform, and accountability.”
