Job Description

*This is a hybrid position. An employee must be able to work on-side at the Office of the State Auditor, 525 Park Street, Suite 500, St. Paul, Minnesota.

This position will serve as the primary data engineer, responsible for planning, designing, developing, and managing modern data solutions and applications, including reporting, business intelligence systems, data warehousing, and data infrastructure. This position may serve as a primary or backup role in supporting other software systems used by the OSA. This position is expected to work independently, and in a team setting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience designing and developing data warehouse solutions.

  • Three (3) years of experience developing reports, dashboards, and datasets using Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

  • Three (3) years of experience developing Extract Transform Load (ETL) and Extract Load Transport (ELT) processes and data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

  • Three (3) years of experience of C# or Python programming experience developing data solutions and automation.

  • Three (3) years of experience of T-SQL programming experience creating tables, views, stored procedures, and queries using Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Two (2) years of experience developing solutions using Microsoft Fabric.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of experience designing and developing enterprise cloud-based data warehouse solutions using Azure data platform.

  • Four (4) years of experience with SQL Server database design, development, and administration.

  • Four (4) years of experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements and translating those requirements into scalable data solutions.

  • Two (2) years of experience developing solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Power Apps) and SharePoint.

  • Two (2) years of experience developing machine learning models and generative AI solutions.

  • Two (2) years of experience developing automated deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub).

  • Experience with Version Control Systems (Subversion, Git).

  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS Software for creating maps, dashboards, and visual elements..


Additional Requirements

  • Requires occasional transport of less than 10 pounds, along with ability to move through work space and maintain a stationary position through out the work day.
